The Colombian Flouta is pure fried goodness that will satisfy your cravings at nights. This wonderful fried stuffed goodness can be found on some street corners and ‘fry fry’ shops at nights.
One such shop / street-side restaurant is located right at the corner of my street which as you can imagine – makes me very happy. The flouta is a rectangular, fried dough pocket that has many different fillings.

Treasures of Colombia: Flouta (Colombian Street Food)
BY: STACEY-ANN SMITH
It is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and you can get a combination of chicken breast with mushrooms, scrambled eggs with jalapeños and sweet corn, shredded beef or shredded chicken with sweet corn.
This pocket of goodness is very hearty and filling; so I usually just eat two for dinner, whenever I am too tired to cook or when I have a craving for fried food.
Colombian Flouta – Jamaican Fry-Fry
It is very easy to make and you can try it at home when you are tired of the everyday, routine, mundane food. Just make a nice smooth dough and fill it with your own choice of meats, fish or eggs then deep fry them in a big, deep dutch pot.
Need a new weekend snack? Try making the Flouta.
